Hey DA peoples! I've been so busy with college, its not even funny, am lucky to get an hour a night to myself. But thank everything under the sun for EASTER HOLIDAYS (or homework time as my lecturers are describing it burst my bubble why don't ye?)
Recently, I was very melancholy at the lack of free time, but I got off my arse and started using my weekends for more socialising for my sanity, and ended up having serious laughs. Laughter really is the best medicine! I've been to Dublin, and Waterford and seen some old friends from Sligo, and it. is. DEADLY!
I'm sometimes finding Fine Art very stodgy, full of big-ass words in history lectures (which normally i don't mind) but all of that is waffle, and i hear classmates constantly complaining of outdated teaching methods, which is frustrating. Sometimes, I have to wake up and say 'eyes on the prize' i.e the degree. On the plus side, time gets away from me when I'm oil painting! I love it! Its a gorgeous medium, with so many possibilities, much less flat than acrylics (which i still love).
I'll be so glad for the breather of Easter holidays, and get away from bias, pomp and malcontent opinions for a little while, to reconnect with what I love about artwork. But if I could take out a year to save money (and cling to my sanity), then conform to a fine art perspective, I can stomach more of this to my goal: an Art degree. I really hope to continue artwork I love, and be happy in producing it I couldn't really ask for more! Hope everyone has a great Easter!! ALL of the chocolate eggs!

Perfectionism
I've always been a perfectionist, and throughout my studying art and developing skills, I always see my older works as failures, even when they aren't. They just may not be as strong as the work I'm currently making, or weren't successful descriptions of what I was trying to say. I'm doing a clean up of my gallery here and on Cat's Corner of Illustration on my Facebook, of the work I don't see as successful anymore, to keep work looking well and representing me well :) Hope this doesn't disappoint anyone! See you all soon in this new year!
To new times! *cheers*
It's the first week in January, and wow, what a change already! I'm moving to a new place this weekend, and hoping to train more times a week in aikido to get my next aikido grade (4th kyuu) in summer! And also, try Wing Tsun a few times in the year if I can. Artwork wise, I have finally organised a set up for oil painting again, which I'll bring to my new place, and hopefully paint more sellable works! I have two great gigs lined up; Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, and to say I'm looking forward to them is a big understatement!
So already, the new year looks brighter than the last, the only real light in last year being my brother's wedding!
Summer work
Well, one year of Fine Art is behind me, with successfully passed exams with reasonable grades :) Funny thing about fine art is: there IS no right way to do it, only criteria to meet with a personal flare added in.
Now comes the massive illustration binge (mwahahahaha!) before I'm thrown back in the saddle of fine art. Having said that, I did learn some wonderful techniques with oil paint, acrylic washes, and papers. But am now lacking in a studio space that I'm allowed to get messy. Work with what you got, they say. I have new projects I want to put time into before September, so that's gonna be good!!
Entering July now (June was crazy for
A little change
I've decided, on my own initiative and the advice of a friend, to remove all works related to 'Loki Play's, in order to revamp and edit it to become much better. Perfectionist habit :) I should hope to improve slowly but steadily, as I'm still determined to improve in college and come out of my comfort zone! Personal work comes slower, but I do it for sanity more than ever :) Glad to have new inspirations and keep producing work! I will update again when 'Loki Plays' is ready again, so stay tuned!
Love C xx
